Meet Jack

Meet Jack, he's our retail visionarie. Handsome, well informed, worldly and wise - and that's just for starts. We love him, so, here's a couple of things he'd like to be doing outside of work - we hope the pastry cooking comes off for him.

Your idea of happiness?

A 25 degree day spent in the park with my friends, dogs, good food and beers.

If not yourself, who would you be?

Being an overpaid Basketball player wouldn't be too bad at all. I'd probably choose to be Kevin Durant, so I would be the best.

The natural talent I'd like to be gifted with? 

Cooking. Pastries and desserts really; it would be awesome to be able to nail the perfect Creme Brulee. I'd love to impress all my friends and host fancy dinner parties.

Where would you like to live?

In a four sided glass house in a forest somewhere. Maybe overlooking a lake. Just a bed, lamp and a record player.

More than just furniture, it's design, practicality and creativity rolled into one fun package.

We featured two of their well known items in the new campaign for Summer 2013, the Splash Coat Rack and the Strut Console Table. 

6 Shades of May - Labour behind the Label

For 6 weeks, May (one of our own), will be 'fashion-fasting', giving up her wardrobe and committing to no more than 6 items of clothing in support of garment workers worldwide. 

The 6 Items Challenge is a continuing tradition of UK organisation Labour Behind the Label, where participants agree to wear only 6 key items of clothing (excluding shoes, socks, accessories, jewellery, sports gear or pyjamas) for a period of time.

The aim of the game is to raise as much money as possible to support garment workers worldwide, who are essentially the backbone of the fashion industry. 

The upcoming 6 Items Challenge coincides with Lent, which starts on Wednesday the 13th of February, and runs for a period of 6 weeks! 

May will be replacing her wardrobe with a total of 6 items, donated by Vanishing Elephant.

The modern day pub is much like the old coffee houses that arose during the Age of Enlightenment. We share stories of battle, of triumph, we debate, discuss and fall handsomely into dispair.  A pub, good or bad, is an institution, a remnant of what's past and a canvas for what's becoming.

James Ross-Edwards has formated his Moderation Hotel - A Series on Pubs into a lovely little 24-page masterpiece, a string of honest renditions regarding our much loved 'locals'.  

The little read will be available in store at Vanishing Elephant QV Melbourne to purchase.
