Tummy Talk

Today we are pondering the meals and eats around town that make our stomachs sing.

As we hit the height of winter, nothing quite soothes the soul and warms the heart like your favourite spread. So we thought we'd share what meal or restaurant keeps us wanting more.

You should do likewise, cause good food never goes a stray.  A good recipe, cheap but brilliant eat, anything that makes you drool, pass it along...

Chiswick.
65 Ocean Street Woollahra

This place is full of 1st world problems, the location is central conservative HQ but this restaurant is oh so right.

The Matt Moran run restaurant is essentially serving a bunch of classic tried and tested dishes done so well you may as well not bother. The Service is excellent, suggestive without being pushy. Knowledgable without being over informative and on point with all ordering and at times most importantly drink service.

My picks;
Salad of radicchio, fennel, orange, pecorino
Wood Roasted Moran family lamb, chick peas, mint
Hand cut chips, thyme, black garlic aioli

Thainatown.

91 Goulburn Street, Haymarket, Sydney

It's full of thai uni students and a fit out that's taken 30 minutes to put together whilst at Ikea.
Having said that, the food is cheap, really authentic, and consistently good.
My pick is the Boat Noodle Soup. I have no idea what's in it, I've been told it's pigs blood and traditional thai spices/herbs, but get it with pork and it's delicious. The stir fried pork belly with snake beans and bamboo shoots is great too.

I think I’m a bit of a traditionalist, and that paired with moving out of home and interstate has forged this nostalgic appetite for the traditional home cooked dinner. The ultimate: A Roast Chicken Dinner. Complete with spicy-herb roasted potato, sweet potato and pumpkin, hot, crisp, steamed vege’s and juicy, yummy perfectly-cooked, melt-in-your-mouth roast chicken.  If I could eat this meal every night I would. Except the dishes afterwards are a killer. The pre-dinner aromas only make this feast more tempting.  Once more, a spread like this needs family and friends to help consume every last morsel.  Sunday night dinners, how I love you.
